all saints day

I went to the cemetary with my parent and my grandma today. Lit candles at Stefan's and grandpa's graves.

First we went to Fresta and Stefan. It was awful. The parking lot, the church. It all raised memories I'd rather forget, the funeral, peoples faces.

It was clear the kids had been there before us, the grave was covered in flowers and candles, all very well planned. They had even placed a pumpkin next to the stone. I figure it's Karin, she's going to grow up to be really artistic, her creativity is allready endless.

Afterwards we went to Silverdal and grandpa's grave, by then it was really dark but the cemetary was lit up by all the candles. Really beautiful.

Grandma took us home to her house for dinner. offcourse I'd forgotten to tell her I'm a vegetarian now and had to eat only rice and vegetables. Her applepie made it worth it though...

news

Poured myself a cup of coffee, picked up the mail from the floor and thought I'd read the paper. It took me one hour to get home from work and now it's 9 in the morning. All I want is some news. But the newspaper has gone missing. Probably it wandered off with Martin when he went to the University. If so, its chances of it returning are minimal.

Might as well update my blog since I have nothing better to do.

The first snow came yesterday, together with the second fall-storm. Stockholm stopped and stared. Noone expected it, which can seem wierd since the winter in Sweden always last at least for 6 months, maybe 8. No, seriously it's november. It's raining. It's cold. And what's the most likely thing to happen?

The subways broke down because of the icy tracks, the busses were cancelled and the cars stood still. I watched the lights on the south-going-highway from our balcony. No lanes were moving and even the exits were still. Silent. I could hear the water under the bridges, and that has never happened before.

And now, the sun is shining, the subways are late, the busses are running and the highwaytraffic is flowing. But I still have no news.

cemetary

medium_061028_Skogskyrkogarden.JPGWent to the Forrest Cemetary in the outskirts of Stockholm today. I don't really know what made me go. I haven't been there since I was a little kid and I only have flimmering memories from it. I remember I thought that it had a fitting name because of all the trees, and I remember the sun shining through the leaves.

Anyway, I woke up, had my breakfast and then just went. I can't even recall any decicion being made about it, it was rather impulsive. 30 minutes on a train and there I was.

Wandered, I didn't really care if I would get lost... (If you only find the main road you can take the buss out...) It was so peaceful and beautiful. Found the grave of Greta Garbo, but couldn't locate Anna Lindh or Olof Palme.

I really should do this more often...

colors

A friend of mine won a election-poster-competition held by one of our top national newspapers. It was pretty funny. And it was pretty obviuos which political party wouldn't get his vote.

I haven't even mentioned the election. It was a rather historic event actually. Sweden switched colors over night. All of the maps in every news cast made it very clear. From being a red nation for as long as I can remember Sweden turned blue on september 17th.

A part of me cried, but another rejoiced. Because I have to confess, I too wanted a new primeminister. And now we got one. Even though he's blue.

work

I finally got a job! I was there yesterday and was shown what I am supposed to do; clean offices above a mall. Not very glamorous, but very well paid :o) Today I'm going to work all by myself, just me and my music... And I only work after 6 at night, when everyone's gone home, so I still have all day to do nothing!

morningdip

They're still not finished with the bathroom, but I moved back anyways. Thess and Martin are here and I can always use the shower at my parents house.

After living here for one year we finnally bought lamps for our livingroom and a trashcan for our kitchen. It was really different to sit in the livingroom for the first time after installing the lamps. It was light, and the wallpaper actually didn't look awful. Amazing!

This morning Thess and I went for a morningdipp. It was still really cold despite the unusually hot summer, which was good 'cause it really woke us up. I can't say the water is clean, but I feel clean and now I won't have to go to my parents house to take a shower today.

I am still amazed that I get to live here. In the middle of Stockholm and so close to the water with this beautiful view. I can only dream about ever living like this again. And I think I've fallen in love with our apartment with all it's faults. I simply don't want to leave. Well, let's not think about that now, that day will come, but not now..

vacation

Back in business!

So I've been away. I wish it was on vacation! First I spent two weeks in a kitchen on a camp in the middle of nowhere and when I came back I found my apartment in a mess and without a bathroom. They're changing pipes in my entire building, but not all at once just one or two apartments a year. I guess it was just our turn... The good news is we have a toilet, the bad news is there's dust everywhere after the drilling and wrecking. Conclusion: I'm staying with my parents.

Now it isn't all bad staying with the folks. They pay for food, I won't have to book my laundry-time one week in advance and I get to see my friend Elise a lot more since she's dating my brother (who's also staying at my parents, but that's his story). It's just, they have these cats, two really cute, palyful, black cats who I am really, really allergic to. So basiclly I'm walking around being grateful for food and roof over my head while I can't at all breathe through my nose. And oh, I still have to pay rent for my apartment.

I know, I shouldn't complain. I'm lucky to have parents I can live with when theres nowhere else to go and I really do love my parents. They just drive me crazy sometimes. And it's in my nature to complain, it doesn't mean I'm not really grateful for everything I have.

Okay, so now I feel like I'm starting to repeat things. Maybe it's just time to quit. Yeah, I think it is.

let's away

Tomorrow I'm off.

Slept two hours last night. Packed all my bags, wrote the last recepies and organized my binder. Felt wonderful to take the day off. I'm longing to bed and I can hardly believe it's only midnight and I'm done. There's nothing I have to do.

I think this will be a great camp.

moving in

Therese and Hanna got stuck in the traffic just a couple of hours after they left home so they didn't arrive in Stockholm until ten at night. I thought I was going to fall asleep waiting, don't know why I'm so tired, but I'm glad I stayed awake. We all moved Thereses stuff into the apartment and now the livingroom looks a bit like a warehouse. That's fine though, it's nice to have some company over the weekend.

Visited my brother today and processed some films I had laying around in the darkroom. It went okay considering the abscence of running water in the lab and the lack of space. My parents really have filled that small room with all kinds of stuff. Feels like they've kinda cleaned me out.

water

And the water was great!

Blue and big waves. Noone cared about the swimming ban and how do you explain a floating deck if you're not allowed to swim. Really. Some guys tried to flirt and wanted to help us up on the deck, but we just swam on. Floating on the waves. Boats passed us by and a duck fled to the safety of the rocks.

Efterwards, when we had enough of the sun we went back to my place and ate chocolate cake with tea. It was interesting how the conversation turned more to politics when Ulrica joined us. James and Venla never talk about the world outside our lifes.

And I finally found someone who's not on vacation and has agreed to help with my questions.

New hope!
